February 24 - February 25
Oliver’s Alley is the place to be for the under 12 set. The Children’s Tea Parties are always a fun and exciting experience for the children. While costumed servers provide tea (apple juice) poured from beautiful, decorative teapots accompanied by delicious cookies, the attendees are treated to a skit imparting tidbits of what it was like to be a child in Victorian times. Special guests such as Mr. Dickens or Queen Victoria often stop by just to say hello. At the Victorian Photo venue children have the opportunity to select Victorian-era clothing from the dress-up trunk and have a picture taken as a keepsake of their visit to Oliver’s Alley. Children can make a Cup and Ball game and a Victorian cloth doll and experience games that were popular in the 19th century such as jacks, pickup sticks, and marbles. An entertainment venue will feature storytelling and songs. Oliver’s Alley was conceived to provide children with a fun and free Dickensian experience. All activities in Oliver’s Alley are free to those under 12.
